Running a Small Business - November Update 2025

Hi, I'm Susie, the face behind Cards and Crafts by Susie, a small handmade card business based in Australia.

This month I’m sharing a behind-the-scenes look at what running my handmade business has looked like throughout November from Christmas creations and shop restocks to the little moments that make this journey so special.

The month started with plenty of Christmas preparation. I spent time making Christmas tags and Christmas craft packs ready to go into Lemon Fizz, followed by creating new Christmas cards. One of my favourite parts of designing is watching an idea go from a simple sketch on paper into a finished card that someone can purchase and enjoy.

It was mine and 8 others 1 year anniversary at Lemon Fizz yesterday. Claire took us out to a winery for wine tasting and platters and gave us a beautiful wooden disc to celebrate it.

10th November 2025 6:03am Monday

I got asked if I could cover a shift in the shop yesterday so I did. I spent the morning sketching up some new teacher cards and the afternoon in the shop making the cards.

12th November 2025 6:08am Wednesday

I spent the whole day making a Christmas activity book that I am going to be putting in the Lemon Fizz shop and in my Christmas boxes I am making for the market.

14th November 2025 9:43am Friday

I got some of my Christmas cards and my Christmas activity book up on the website today!

16th November 2025 11:00am Sunday

My husband and I went to the James Johnston concert last night which was amazing, we even got to meet him!!

For the rest of Sunday I sat in front of the TV watching Christmas movies while I made some new balloon cards for both the Lemon Fizz shops.

20th November 2025 6:24am Thursday

I have used this week making new cards for the shops. I have revamped my pregnancy cards and made them in different colours.

And also some of my love cards. And then the very next day I got a sale of the Mrs and Mrs Gold love heart card I had just put in the shop.

Christmas is well and truly here on my shelve at Lemon Fizz. 🎄

24th November 2025 6:29am Monday

I sent the day yesterday making card kits do do at work today and the night stamping the back of 300 cards for Elf Magic and the market this December. (Gosh the things we do to get our brand out there!)

25th November 2025 6:25am Tuesday

This is one of the cards I was making at work yesterday. I ended up colouring in the two hearts in congratulations in a dark pink.

I also got all the cards and inserts and supplies ready for Elf Magic. I am not working on getting products done for the December market.

I made some Reindeer Lollipop Holders and put them up on my website!

I took a break from crafting this past weekend because it was Christmas shopping time with the family. 🤗
